After aging for nearly 3 years in American and French oak barrels, the 2019 Merlot is ready for its debut. This wine has revealed bright strawberry preserves, cola, and figs on the nose. Its medium body and angular acidity are complemented by flavors of mocha, spice, and dark berries. This favorite of our cellar crew, it would settle nicely with some shepherd’s pie or warm goat cheese and bread.

A smaller harvest only yielded us 213 cases of this delectable fan favorite. Alicante Bouschet, which is one of the few red grapes that has red flesh as well as skins (a teinturier grape) created a wine this vintage with a deep garnet hue. Aromas of sweet tobacco, blackberry compote, black pepper and brioche greet the nose-on the palate, the tannins are soft and juicy. Flavors of ripe berries, spice and sweet plum make this a great wine to enjoy on its own or with grilled fare.

Full-bodied with silky tannins thanks to some serious time in barrel and bottle, it delivers luscious notes of black cherry and ripe raspberry, all balanced by just the right touch of acidity and a whisper of graphite (because a little mystery never hurt anyone).

2020 proved to be a great year for our Montepulciano following the late freeze in 2019. The vines naturally produced fewer grapes, making the wine more concentrated and riper than in years past. Dark ruby in color with heady notes of berry pie, thyme and sweet toast. It drinks big and bold with ripe red fruit, gripping tannins and smooth finishing notes of leather and spice. Best paired with a nicely marbled rib-eye.

The low grape yields of the vines in 2020 helped us produce a dark ruby, brooding version of Sangiovese this vintage. Notes of cocoa-dusted strawberry, tobacco, leather, and root beer jump out of the glass. The wine sips smoothly with fine-grained tannins and flavors of smoky bramble berries. Candied cherries and vanilla on the lingering finish make it an excellent after-dinner drink or to be paired with hearty Italian dishes like osso bucco.
After spending 16 months aging in barrel, the first wine from our 2022 vintage is here. This Mediterranean style blend has grapes that can be found in Spain, Italy, and France- these grapes all came from the Texas High Plains of course. The Carignan carries the acidity, Mourvedre brings body and structure, Sangiovese lends its fruitiness and spice, and the Refosco adds some depth and complexity to the finish. All in all, they come together intentionally to create a wine full of red berry, plum and spice notes with a medium body and rustic tannins. It's easy drinking now, but will only get better with time. Cheers to the Needy ones! The Bitch is back!
