The all free run juice in 2020 gave us a Montepulciano with a little attitude. Aromas of chocolate covered blueberries, warm pastry, and bright red apple rise from the glass like a bakery that secretly moonlights as a wine bar. The palate is smooth and medium weight with fine grained tannins and juicy cherry cola flavors. A long plush finish brings notes of vanilla and spice from extended time in French oak. Enjoy it now with rich pasta dishes and braised meats, or hold a bottle to see just how good your patience really is.
The low grape yields of the vines in 2020 helped us produce a dark ruby, brooding version of Sangiovese this vintage. Notes of cocoa-dusted strawberry, tobacco, leather, and root beer jump out of the glass. The wine sips smoothly with fine-grained tannins and flavors of smoky bramble berries. Candied cherries and vanilla on the lingering finish make it an excellent after-dinner drink or to be paired with hearty Italian dishes like osso bucco.

Our 2021 Montepulciano from Texas' High Plains AVA is one of our perennial crowd pleasers. Notes of cocoa dusted berries and minty pipe tobacco pleasantly emanate from the glass. The medium body of the wine intermingles with rich flavors of anise, blackcurrant and roasted campfire marshmallows from the time aged in French and Hungarian oak barrels. After spending 16 months aging in barrel, the first wine from our 2022 vintage is here. This Mediterranean style blend has grapes that can be found in Spain, Italy, and France- these grapes all came from the Texas High Plains of course. The Carignan carries the acidity, Mourvedre brings body and structure, Sangiovese lends its fruitiness and spice, and the Refosco adds some depth and complexity to the finish. All in all, they come together intentionally to create a wine full of red berry, plum and spice notes with a medium body and rustic tannins. This blend of the 2021 and 2022 vintages of our first Texas Nebbiolo exudes jammy figs, crushed rose petal framed by minty, oaky notes from the use of mild French oak on the nose. The color is light and dusky which is typical of the variety. Tastes of anise, black tea and candied cherry with some light, yet gripping tannins on the finish round out this easy drinking wine.
